Horrific dashcam shows moment Tesla Cybertruck 'going 97m...
2026-05-07 · via News | Mail Online

New dashcam footage shows a Tesla Cybertruck allegedly running a red light at nearly 100mph in Florida before crashing into a woman’s driver’s side vehicle, killing her.

Dayana Abreu Perez, 40, was fatally struck just days before last Christmas when a Tesla allegedly blew a red light and crashed into her Hyundai Sonata as she made a left turn at an intersection in Miami-Dade, according to NBC Miami.

The driver, Dayron Ramirez-Mesa, 21, was allegedly intoxicated and, according to the Tesla’s data recorder, was traveling at 97mph just three seconds before impact.

He later surrendered to police on multiple charges, including DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide in a reckless manner, reckless driving causing property or personal damage and DUI causing property or personal damage.

On Tuesday, chilling new dashcam video from inside the Cybertruck was released, capturing the split-second crash that left a mother of two dead.

In footage obtained by NBC, the Tesla driver is seen speeding toward a red light with no sign of slowing, just as two lanes of cars turn left on a green light at the intersection.

The driver then violently barreled into two turning cars, with the brunt of the impact appearing to strike the driver’s side of Perez’s silver vehicle.

Debris and smoke filled the roadway, with the Hyundai appearing nearly crushed from the impact. A tire still attached to an axle was also seen rolling away from the scene.

In a rearview angle, the Cybertruck is captured speeding past several cars on the highway just moments before the collision.

The footage surfaced nearly six months after the fatal crash, which took place just after 8am on December 14, 2025, near Southwest 56th Street and Southwest 122nd Avenue in Kendale Lakes.

Perez, who suffered severe injuries, was rushed to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Her heartbroken family told Local 10 News that she was a wonderful wife and mother, and that her sudden loss has been deeply difficult and gut-wrenching for everyone who loved her.

Responding authorities suspected Ramirez-Mesa was driving under the influence, noting an alcohol odor on his breath and 'watery and bloodshot' eyes in their report.

The first of three blood samples reportedly showed that he had blood alcohol levels of 0.180, 0.103 and 0.081 - more than twice the state’s legal limit, according to the police report obtained by the outlet.

While Tesla data showed his speed reached nearly 100mph seconds before impact, investigators also found it was more than double the posted 40mph limit in the area.

In February, Ramirez-Mesa turned himself in on DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide charges at the MDSO headquarters in Doral, according to Local 10 News.

His attorney argued that, because he had no prior criminal record, he should be released on terms reflecting that fact, according to The Independent.

Meanwhile, prosecutors pointed to the 'egregious nature' of Ramirez-Mesa's alleged crime and asked the judge to set a $50,000 bond on each individual count.

Agreeing with the prosecution, Judge Mindy Glazer specifically highlighted the fact that his blood alcohol tests allegedly showed he was more than twice the limit to be behind the wheel.

'I think he should personally be held no bond, he killed somebody because he was driving drunk,' Glazer said, according to the outlet.

She ultimately set Ramirez-Mesa's bond at $75,000 where he was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with special conditions if released, including house arrest and a no-drive order.

He has since been released and is expected back in court in late May, though the exact date remains unclear.
