Police officer 'mocked Katie Price's disabled son in What...

A police officer faces losing her job after she called new recruits 'Harveys who need to be read to' referring to Katie Price's eldest son, a misconduct hearing was told.

Trainer Police Sergeant Natalie Dolan messaged the 'ableist' comment on WhatsApp to an ex police officer only named as PC Jones, it was heard.

It was among several offensive, racist and sexist messaged the seasoned Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officer sent, it is claimed.

The correspondence, exchanged between May 2021 to February 2022, emerged following a criminal investigation into the force's professional standards.

Stephen Morley, representing GMP, told the hearing the remark implied student officers have 'learning difficulties because they need to be read to like Harvey Price'.

He described it as discriminatory to both Harvey and the student officers.

According to The Sun, he added: 'That is mocking of the disability and mocking of the student officers.'

Ms Price's son, Harvey, was diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome shortly after he was born on May 27, 2002. He is also partially sighted and has autism.

The 48-year-old officer referred to new recruits as 'Harveys who need to be read to' in reference to Katie Price's eldest son, Harvey, (pictured in 2022) who is disabled

At the time, Sgt Dolan — praised for her work in a former police role — had been a cop for around 20 years.

Mr Morley told the hearing that the 48-year-old police sergeant also sent a racist message which read: 'Blame HR for recruiting at the mosque.'

He said Sgt Dolan's message inferred recruiting at the place of worship would result in 'less able candidates'.

Correspondence also said 'licker', which Mr Morley told the hearing was in reference to a disabled person licking a window.

He described the sergeant's remarks as 'inappropriate' for a professional who was meant to train other officers and lead 'by example'.

Describing the messages as 'offensive', 'discriminatory', 'racist and ableist', he added: 'She must have realised what she was doing was totally unacceptable. But she carried on doing it.'

The 48-year-old also faces accusations of sharing confidential information about other officers with PC Jones, as well as failing to declare a conflict of interest regarding her ex-coworker.

The hearing, which is currently ongoing at GMP's Manchester HQ, was told Sgt Dolan's correspondence was in breach of professional standards and amounted to gross misconduct.
