The Space Force awarded Lockheed Martin $514.4 million for two more GPS III Follow-on satellites, bringing the total number of space vehicles for GPS III to 24, according to a Space Systems Command announcement today.

The two satellites -- which will be the 13th and 14th follow-on satellites -- will add additional anti-jam capabilities and increased accuracy and reliability, according to a Lockheed announcement.

“We are ensuring our warfighters and partners maintain a distinct tactical advantage, while continuing to provide the gold-standard service that billions of civilian users rely on every single day,” said Erin Carper, acting Space Force portfolio acquisition executive for Satellite Communications and Positioning, Navigation and Timing.

The launch of these vehicles is still years away as the service just launched the last of its standard GPS III satellites in April.
