The Defense Innovation Unit is looking for lethal technologies compatible with remote-operated counter-drone weapons, per a new call for submissions.

The posting separates the search into four parts, each centered on a specific portion of the final objective -- to form a coordinated, networked kill chain using integration of weapons, fire control platforms.

The first segment focuses on integrating hardware and software supporting Aided Target Recognition with existing remote weapon systems. The second and third will assess new RWS stations and novel improvements to existing small arms systems. The fourth part focuses on combining and improving capabilities supporting weapons systems’ ability to fully connect and synchronize with sensors, fire control, targeting and command-and-control systems.

Vendors can submit solutions addressing any one of the four parts or multiple. Submissions for parts one and two should be ready for full-scale system testing, demonstration and evaluation within three months of the project start date. Part three demonstration timelines will be determined during prototype development. Part one vendors are expected to provide on-site and remote support during on-base system test, demonstration and evaluation, DIU said.

Submissions are due May 15.
