Celine Dion spent the earliest days of her career performing in French, her first language, as she was raised in the French-speaking part of Canada. Throughout her decades-long time in the spotlight, Dion has continued to record in the language, though, at times, she has stepped away for long periods to focus on English recordings, which helped her become one of the biggest stars in the world.
Lately, Dion has not been releasing much music, as for years now, she has been battling against her stiff-person syndrome. At one point, the diagnosis forced her to cancel all of her live dates and threw the future of her recording career into jeopardy. Thankfully, it appears that the Grammy winner has been able to work past her physical issues, and she has performed live a handful of times. Dion has even gone so far as to schedule multiple concerts in Paris, which are marketed as something of a comeback, and which will certainly rank among the highest-grossing and most exciting shows in 2026.
In mid-April, Dion released “Dansons,” her first original song in years, which was shared to coincide with the announcement of her upcoming Paris concert residency. This week, “Dansons” becomes not only a bestseller in America, but one of the superstar’s only hits on one specific tally.
“Dansons” launches on one list in the United States, the World Digital Song Sales chart. That ranking focuses entirely on purchases of tracks via platforms like iTunes that are performed in a language other than either English or Spanish. These days, the roster is often inundated with K-pop artists, though it is not limited to their style. “Dansons” arrives at No. 5, landing in the middle of the 10-space rundown.
Dion has only reached the World Digital Song Sales chart twice in her career, and her two wins are only separated by a little more than a year. In October 2024, Dion earned her first smash on the World Digital Song Sales tally when the officially-titled “Hymne A L'Amour (Live Aux Jeux Olympiques de Paris 2024)” launched. One week after debuting, that cut, her first piece of new music in years, climbed to No. 4, which stands as its all-time peak.
“Hymne à l’amour” spent four frames on the sales roster before disappearing completely. Dion nearly returns to that position this week with “Dansons,” which stalls one space beneath where “Hymne à l’amour” topped out.
Only two tracks debut on the World Digital Song Sales chart this week, and Dion claims the lower-peaking of the two. The powerful team-up of Tyla and Zara Larsson proved nearly big enough to lead the list, but their collaboration, “She Did It Again,” instead opens in second place. “Let Me Be” by The Second Voice, an artificial intelligence-fronted musical project, leads the way once more.
Three tunes return to the World Digital Song Sales ranking at the same time. Coming in at No. 3, a new high, is “Move,” which credits Adam Port, Stryv, Camila Cabello, and Malachii. Two cuts by BTS superstar J-Hope also return to the same roster. “Safety Zone” nearly matches its No. 3 peak as it breaks back in at No. 4. “Future” appears at No. 8, several slots beneath its No. 5 top placement. “Safety Zone” appears on the tally for only the second time ever, while “Future” has now spent three weeks somewhere on the World Digital Song Sales chart.
