It remains a relatively rare feat for any K-pop act, be it a boy band or girl group, or a singer working on their own, to score a top 10 smash on the Billboard Hot 100. That tally, published each week by Billboard, ranks the 100 most popular songs in the United States. Sales, streams and radio airplay factor into where a title lands, and this time around, one solo musician typically associated with K-pop earns her first top 10 win.

Jennie breaks into the region, flying to No. 10 with "Dracula." That song was released months ago by alternative pop project Tame Impala, fronted by superstar musician Kevin Parker, and it became a global sensation after the Blackpink singer lent her vocals and fame to the composition.

As "Dracula" becomes one of the 10 biggest hits in America at the moment, Jennie helps Blackpink join a select few groups that have managed an incredibly rare feat on the most competitive songs list in the country.

Jennie Follows Rosé Into the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 10

Jennie is the second member of Blackpink to reach the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 on her own. A little more than a year ago, Rosé, another one of the four singers in the K-pop outfit, cracked the uppermost register with "Apt.," her Grammy-nominated collaboration with Bruno Mars. That track stands as one of the most successful among songs that credit K-pop soloists, as it worked its way to No. 3.

Blackpink Joins Destiny's Child and Fifth Harmony

Blackpink is now one of only half a dozen groups that have seen multiple female members surge into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 as soloists. According to Billboard, that roundup includes Destiny's Child (Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland), Fifth Harmony (Camila Cabello and Normani), Fleetwood Mac (Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks), the Go-Go's (Belinda Carlisle and Jane Wiedlin), and the Runaways (Lita Ford and Joan Jett).

Blackpink Has Yet to Reach the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 10

While their time as members of Blackpink – which is still together, though the members have been able to take time to focus on their solo careers, as well as their duties as part of one of the most successful girl groups of all time – made both Rosé and Jennie into global superstars, the band has yet to reach the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Blackpink has thus far climbed as high as No. 13, a position the band reached back in September 2020 with "Ice Cream." That cut benefited from a feature by Selena Gomez, but it couldn’t quite find its way into the highest region on the ranking.

"Dracula" Leads Seven Billboard Charts

"Dracula" is one of the most successful songs in America, and not solely because of its position on the Billboard Hot 100. The track appears on 19 different Billboard charts, as it is selling and streaming well, rising at radio, and the company classifies it under a number of different genres, which makes it eligible to live on more rosters than most cuts. "Dracula" sits inside the top 10 on all but four of those rankings, and it currently leads seven of them.
