The fact that Nirvana ranks as one of the bestselling rock groups in the history of the United Kingdom is not shocking. That the band, which broke up decades ago, regularly appears on multiple charts, sometimes with several titles, is impressive, but at this point also never surprising. Exactly how long some of Nirvana’s collections – one in particular have remained on various lists is rather astounding.

Nirvana’s Nevermind Reaches 1,500 Weeks on One Chart

As of this period, Nirvana’s Nevermind has made space on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart, the U.K.’s list of the bestselling titles in those genres, for 1,500 weeks. Nevermind is one of the most critically acclaimed, important, and top-performing rock releases of all time, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that 1,500 frames as a major seller in one of the largest music markets in the world is a feat that most acts can only ever dream about.

Nirvana’s Nevermind Returns to the Top 10

As Nevermind celebrates its notable milestone, the set jumps up the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart. This frame, the project pushes from No. 20 to No. 8, finding its way back to the top 10. This week’s Official Rock and Metal Albums roster is much less busy than last time around, when Record Store Day releases dominated, which allows classics to surge and in the lower rungs, return. As of this period, Nevermind has spent 659 turns within the top 10.

Nirvana’s Nevermind Needed Years to Reach No. 1

Nevermind debuted on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart in November 1994. According to the Official Charts Company’s records, it took until the summer of 1998 for the grunge favorite to soar all the way to No. 1. Nirvana’s sophomore set has spent a total of 24 weeks running the show, and it hasn’t been long since it last controlled the roster. Nevermind was in charge of the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart in December of last year.

Nirvana’s Longest-Charting Albums

Several releases by Nirvana have spent hundreds of weeks each on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart. The group’s second longest-charting effort, MTV Unplugged In New York, is up to 902 turns on the tally. In Utero has spent 555 weeks on the list, while the group’s self-titled compilation has reached 437 stints somewhere on the roster. Bleach and Incesticide, the band’s two wins appearances on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart, have scored 242 and 204 weeks on the rundown, respectively.

Incesticide, Bleach, Nevermind and In Utero Debuted Together

Since 1994, Nirvana collected its first four placements as Official Rock and Metal Albums chart Incesticide, Bleach, Nevermind, and In Utero, all debuted in the same week. The band has sent a total of 14 releases to the tally throughout the decades. That’s a notable figure considering the fact that Nirvana only ever dropped three proper studio LPs. Nevermind is one of four leaders, alongside MTV Unplugged In New York, From The Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah, and Nirvana, which all earned multiple frames in charge.

Three projects that are currently present on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart have spent at least 1,000 weeks on the roster. Nevermind is the longest-running of the grouping. Appetite For Destruction by Guns N’ Roses is up to 1,268 moments on the 40-space list, while Linkin Park’s debut set Hybrid Theory cracked 1,000 stays more than a year ago, and it is currently up to 1,080 in total.

Nirvana’s Nevermind Returns To Multiple Charts in the U.K.

Nevermind currently appears on four rosters in the U.K. as it climbs on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart. The full-length finds its way back to the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums tallies – it lands at No. 56 on both of them – as well as the Official Album Downloads chart, where it’s back at No. 77.
