Jackass: Best and Last, the fifth and final stunt comedy movie based on Johnny Knoxville’s hit MTV series Jackass, is going out with a bang with Rotten Tomatoes critics.

Featuring “all new stunts and stupidity,” per Paramount Pictures, along with some of Jackass’ greatest hits and biggest laughs from the comedy documentary show-turned-movie franchise’s past, Jackass: Best and Last plays in Thursday previews before opening in theaters nationwide on Friday.

Directed by Jeff Tremaine and produced by Tremaine, Knoxville, Spike Jonze and Shanna Newton, Jackass: Best and Last features Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man (Jason Acuña), Dave England, Danger Ehren (Ehren McGhehey), Preston Lacy, Rachel Wolfson, Jasper, Dark Shark (Compston Wilson), Poopies (Sean McInerney) and Zach Holmes.

As of Thursday noon PT, Jackass: Best and Last has earned a 90% “fresh” critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer based on 29 reviews. RT’s Critics Consensus, Audience Summary and Popcornmeter score based on verified user ratings are still pending.

What Are Individual Critics Saying About ‘Jackass: Best and Last’?

Guy Lodge of Variety is among the top critics on RT who gives the fifth Jackass movie a “fresh” score, writing, “You leave Jackass: Best and Last believing that they’ll actually miss all this, and that’s enough to make us miss it too.”

Tim Grierson of Screen International was also entertained by Jackass: Best and Last. Grierson writes in his “fresh” RT review summary, “The star of the show remains Johnny Knoxville, the charismatic ringmaster whose infectious cackle will get viewers guffawing along with him -- no matter how painful the orchestrated bits clearly are.”

Liz Shannon Miller of Consequence also gives Jackass: Best and Last a “fresh” score on RT, writing in her review summary, “As gnarly as it is to revisit the 2010 Poo Cocktail Supreme, it's equally harrowing to watch a young Knoxville get taped into a cardboard box and then tipped down a flight of stairs.”

David Ehrlich of IndieWire gives Jackass: Best and Last a “fresh” score as well, but with some reservations. Ehrlich writes on RT, “Like any burial service worth its sentiment, Best and Last is largely rooted in revisiting old memories, which is a generous way of saying that it’s basically a glorified clip show with a smattering of new footage sprinkled in for good measure.”

Frank Scheck of The Hollywood Reporter is one of the two top critics on RT to give Jackass: Best and Last a “rotten” score as of the publication of this article, writing, “While there are occasionally funny moments, these movies are emblematic of the dumbing down of America.”

Mark Kennedy of The Associated Press isn’t a fan of Jackass: Best and Last, either. Kennedy writes in his “rotten” RT review summary, “Regretfully, comedian Rachel Wolfson, the first woman to join the crew, is demoted to cheerleader in the final movie; one step forward in 2022 is one step back in 2026.”

Rated R, Jackass: Best and Last plays in Thursday previews before opening in theaters nationwide on Friday.
