Taylor Swift is often the most successful artist on the Billboard 200. Sometimes she dominates the list of the most popular albums in the United States by appearing at No. 1 – a feat she manages more frequently than any other act these days – while at other times she occupies the greatest number of spaces.
Neither is true this week, as the tally belongs to Drake. His recently released album Iceman becomes his fifteenth champion, tying him with Swift for the second-most among all acts, behind only the Beatles. The Canadian rapper also manages a first as he launches a trio of projects in the highest three spaces. Coming in behind Iceman are Habibti and Maid of Honour, which open at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.
Swift does not fill the most slots either. She sees eight of her releases take up space on the Billboard 200, while Drake makes history as the first living musical act to score 12 charters simultaneously. Swift does manage one very impressive feat this time around, as one of her most beloved – and perhaps most controversial – studio efforts reaches a landmark figure she's only seen once before.
Reputation shifted another 11,500 equivalent album units in the most recent tracking period, according to Luminate. That figure is down less than 300 from the week prior. That sum proved large enough to help Reputation earn another stay on the Billboard 200, even as it descends from No. 137 to No. 146. As of this frame, the nearly 10 year old former ruler has lived on the tally for 400 weeks.
Throughout her nearly two-decade-long career – her self-titled album launched on the Billboard 200 in November 2006 – Swift has collected 21 charting titles. 19 of those have cracked the top 10, and, as previously mentioned, 15 have ruled.
Before this week, only one of them had held on for 400 weeks or more. 1989, which preceded Reputation by several years, is up to 567 stays somewhere on the 200-space register. It holds as one of the longest-charting albums by a woman of all time.
Reputation debuted at the summit of the Billboard 200 in December 2017. While it spent four weeks running the show, it is not counted among the singer-songwriter's sturdiest leaders. She has seen four of her 15 champions sit inside the penthouse for double-digit frames. That roundup includes The Tortured Poets Department (17 weeks), her most recent set, The Life of a Showgirl (12), and both 1989 and Fearless, which spent 11 frames atop the tally.
Of the eight full-lengths by Swift that appear on any Billboard chart, a little more than half only manage to take space on the Billboard 200. Her two most recent sets, The Life of a Showgirl and The Tortured Poets Department, also decline on the Top Streaming Albums tally, dipping to Nos. 23 and 45, respectively.
Folklore, one of her four Album of the Year winners at the Grammys, also manages to settle on the Top Alternative Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts because of how Billboard classifies it. That fan favorite appears at No. 15 on the alternative-only ranking and No. 28 on the more all-encompassing roster.
