Labrinth, the musician who composed the soundtrack to the first two seasons of “Euphoria,” appeared to address his exit from the show’s upcoming third season in a post on Instagram, slamming unnamed people in the industry for lying and saying he will not let “people treat me like sh*t.”

Labrinth, in a post on his Instagram story, said he decided to remove his contributions to the third season of “Euphoria,” which premieres on HBO Sunday, because “people will comfortably lie in this industry and still call themselves honest people.”
The musician said when he works for someone, “their vision is paramount to me,” but said, “I don’t let people treat me like sh*t,” without naming names.
His comments come two days after “Euphoria” showrunner Sam Levinson told Rolling Stone he doesn’t know why Labrinth departed the series, adding, “He’s an incredible collaborator and someone who really built the foundation of the sound of ‘Euphoria.’”
The music for the third season of “Euphoria” was composed by Hans Zimmer, though Zimmer’s involvement was first announced last year as a collaboration between himself and Labrinth.
In a cryptic, now-deleted post on Instagram last month, Labrinth said, “I’m done with this industry. Fuck Columbia. Double fuck ‘Euphoria.’ I’m out. Thank you and good night x,” though he did not elaborate on why he lashed out at the series. In another post days later, the musician took aim at the entertainment industry. “We walk into this industry as creatives that wish to share color and get turned into wolves of Wall Street dribbling over stocks and shares,” he said, though he did not explicitly reference “Euphoria.” Prior to leaving the show, Labrinth initially expressed excitement about working with Zimmer. “So great to join Hans, one of my heroes in film score, and bring some new magic to this new season,” he said in a statement after Zimmer’s involvement was announced. Labrinth previously won a Primetime Emmy Award for his work on the first season’s soundtrack.
The third season of “Euphoria” finally premieres Sunday on HBO, ending a more than four-year gap since the second season concluded. The series picks up five years after the second season ended and features much of the main cast reprising their roles, including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi. The new season has the lowest critics score on Rotten Tomatoes of any “Euphoria” season, earning just a 43% rating.
The third season of “Euphoria” was plagued by delays and roadblocks. The new season was initially set to begin shooting in 2023, according to a Vogue profile of actress Maude Apatow, but plans were disrupted by the overlapping writers and actors strikes of 2023, which stretched from May to November of that year. The series also faced two deaths in 2023—actor Angus Cloud, who played Fezco O'Neill, and producer Kevin Turen. Eric Dane, who plays Cal Jacobs, died in February, after shooting his scenes for season 3. A report by The Hollywood Reporter claimed tensions grew on set between Zendaya, the show’s lead actress and producer, and Levinson, as Levinson reportedly diverted his attention to his other HBO show “The Idol,” which was panned by critics and canceled after one season. During the long break between seasons, several “Euphoria” stars developed prolific film careers: Zendaya starred in “Challengers” and the “Dune” franchise, Sweeney starred in romantic comedy “Anyone But You” and boxing biopic “Christy,” while Elordi earned an Oscar nomination for his role in “Frankenstein.”
