It is a trial that has put Murati back in the spotlight, and two versions of her are in focus. The first belongs to the OpenAI story, her role in the rise of OpenAI and brain trust in developing arguably the most consequential technologies of the modern era, ending with a dramatic twist.

The other version is how she has emerged from that crossfire as one of the most-watched technology founders in the world. In 2024, she founded ‘Thinking Machines Lab,’ a company that raised a record seed round in Silicon Valley, $2 Billion at a $12 billion valuation, while still pre-product and pre-revenue.
