Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold

Samsung’s first phone with a display that folded out not once but twice, the Galaxy Z TriFold was only made in limited numbers and it has now sold out. But if you wanted a phone that folded out to become a full-sized tablet, don’t give up hope. A successor is coming, a new report has claimed. And that’s a surprise.
The Galaxy Z TriFold aimed to fix many of the problems that have beset folding phones. Most fold out from phone shape to an almost square screen, which means watching video is plagued by big black borders on two sides, for instance.
The TriFold opened out into a full-sized, 10-inch tablet with roughly the 4:3 aspect ratio of a traditional tablet.
It was also slim and light when opened, though rather chunky when folded flat. While it had been thought that the TriFold was a one-off experiment, it now seems that might not be the case.
Regular leaker yeux1122 said that a second-generation TriFold is in the works and there will be a focus on light and ultra-slim design. “Samsung is developing a new hinge for Galaxy Z Trifold 2nd generation, etc,” they said, indicating that the new hinge will later come to other foldable models.

The original TriFold is very slim when it’s open, but not when it’s folded, so a slimmer profile would especially benefit the pocketability of the device.
“Samsung broke major foldable thickness and weight barriers with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which measured 8.9mm thick when folded and weighed just 215 grams,” Android Authority reported. “The Galaxy Z TriFold was gargantuan by comparison, measuring 12.9mm thick and weighing 309 grams. Of course, this is easily explained by the Galaxy Z TriFold’s dual-hinge design and larger 10-inch primary display. However, it’s clear that if ‘TriFold’ phones ever go mainstream, they’ll need to get slimmer and lighter — and that starts with the hinge design,” the report went on.
