Introducing the Jamf 140 Course
Kyle Schuler · 2026-04-11 · via Jamf Blog

We're excited to announce the all-new Jamf 140 Course: a free, self-paced certification course built specifically for education. Whether you're brand new to device management or transitioning from another MDM solution, the Jamf 140 Course gives you the foundational skills to confidently manage and secure your school's Apple devices using Jamf School and Jamf Safe Internet. It's also the launchpad for Jamf's advanced instructor-led Jamf 240 Course.

Why the Jamf 140 Course matters

Managing student devices, keeping learners safe online and protecting school data is a serious responsibility — and it starts with the right tools and training.

Jamf School is purpose-built for K-12 environments. When paired with Jamf Safe Internet's web filtering, threat blocking and secure network protections, you get a comprehensive solution designed around the unique needs of education. The Jamf 140 Course teaches you how to use both of them effectively from day one.

Course structure

The Jamf 140 Course includes twenty lessons across five sections featuring:

  • Video tutorials
  • Written key points
  • Knowledge check questions

Ready for some hands-on practice?

Every section includes a guided simulation with real-world scenarios, letting you configure and deploy management tasks in a safe, guided environment before applying them in production.

What you'll learn

The course is designed to meet you where you are.

We start with the fundamentals:

  • An introduction to macOS and iOS
  • How apps work on Apple devices

We help you build a solid understanding before diving into more advanced concepts.

From there, you'll get hands-on with the core tools of the trade:

  • Setting up Jamf School
  • Configuring the Apple Push Notification Service (APNs)
  • Walking through automated device enrollment

Alongside streamlining how devices get into students' hands, you'll also learn to confidently:

  • Create accounts
  • Assign roles
  • Enroll devices

With your devices under management, you'll explore how to configure profiles and design blueprints to apply settings at scale, then deploy apps and documents to set students up for success.

The final section brings it all together with a deep dive into security.

Using Jamf Safe Internet, you'll learn to:

  • Protect students from harmful or inappropriate content
  • Defend against phishing attacks and malware
  • Extend protections across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, ChromeOS and Windows devices

Earning your certification

After completing the course, you'll have the opportunity to take the certification exam. Score 80% or higher to earn your Jamf Certified Associate – Jamf School certification.

Not quite ready to venture into the exam? A practice exam is included in the course materials to help you gauge your preparedness.

Ready to get started?

The Jamf 140 Course is free and available to everyone: no prerequisites, no barriers — just the knowledge you need to make a real difference in your school's technology program.

Whether you're walking into your first IT role, switching from a different MDM platform or an experienced Jamf School admin looking to sharpen your skills, we're here to support your journey.

We can't wait to see you in the Jamf 140 Course!
