Union Minister for IT and Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw asked Google to take up manufacturing of servers in India.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Google Cloud India AI Hub in partnership with AdaniConneX and Netra in Tarluvada near Visakhapatnam on Monday, he said there are many companies in India which manufacture servers needed for data centres.
Out of 10 semiconductor plants being set up as part of the Semiconductor Mission, two had already started and two more will begin production this year, he said.
The first commercial fab will be made in Dholera in 2029, he added.
“We are happy to collaborate in improving power efficiency. Efficiency in water consumption is essential. Whatever possible from the government will fully support reduction in water,” he said.
