The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has extended the deadline of adjusted gross revenue (AGR) reassessment for Vodafone-Idea (VIL) by three months to June, sources said on Tuesday.
The department expects that AGR reassessment for the company that recently received government relief for its dues and liabilities, will be completed by June. The reassessment was earlier targeted for completion by March 31.
Sources in the government said the review of spectrum usage charge (SUC) is on, following the internal licence fee reassessment by Controller of Communication Accounts. Accordingly, the timeline has been extended to June.
The Cabinet on December 31, 2025 had approved the relief to VIL based on the Supreme Court’s order and `frozen’ its AGR dues at ₹87,695 crore for a period ranging from FY06-07 to FY 18-19. It also said the `frozen’ dues are subject to reassessment.
The said amount excludes those AGR dues of FY17–18 and FY18–19, which stand finalised by the apex court’s 2020 order and payable in accordance.
A Committee constituted by DoT on January 30 this year, will decide on the outcome of such reassessment by the DoT.
“The Committee comprises a retired Secretary-level officer of Government of India and a representative of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), as nominated by the CAG. The Committee shall finalise the outcome of the reassessment within a period of two months, unless extended,” Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Communications had said in reply to Lok Sabha questions last month.
