The Telangana Government will set up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to develop a State-wide fiber network to connect every Gram Panchayat with high-bandwidth Internet under the amended BharatNet programme.

In the first phase, restoration of digital connectivity will be undertaken in 3,089 villages across the undivided Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, and Khammam districts.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy held a video-conference with nion minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M Scindia to discuss the roadblocks in laying the fiber network. Seeking Central assistance in this regard, the Chief Minister said the Government was planning to provide high-speed internet connectivity to every village and every household in the State.

“Scindia assured that the union government would extend full cooperation in the implementation of the project,” a Chief Minister’s office statement said here on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the state government approved the establishment of an SPV to create a robust network and signed an agreement with the Centre to lay the foundation for a ‘Digital Telangana’.
