Oil palm price in Telangana has gone up by ₹1,459 per tonne of fresh fruit bunch (FFB), taking the total price to ₹23,005 a tonne.
The Director of the Horticulture Department has said that the decision has been taken following the information provided by the Telangana Oil Federation regarding the current prices of crude palm oil and palm nuts.
“Increased prices would attract more farmers to grow the plantation crop. It will increase confidence among the farmers,” Telangana Agriculture, Marketing and Cooperation Tummala Nageswara Rao, said.
He said the Government was providing saplings and drip facilities to promote oil palm cultivation. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy recently opened a palm oil processing factory in Narmetta (Siddhipet district), with an investment of ₹300 crore, which can process 30 tonnes of FFBs per hour.
