The outlook for Tata Power Company (₹435) remains positive. The stock finds an immediate resistance at ₹460. If the current trend sustains, it can surpass ₹460 and hit a new high.
Immediate support is at ₹398 followed by a major one at ₹345. A close below the latter will alter the bullish view on the stock. But in the near-term we expect the current uptrend to continue.
F&O pointers: Tata Power April and May futures closed at ₹434.65 and ₹436.85 respectively against the spot price of ₹435. The counter witnessed a rollover of a healthy 58 per cent and premium in May futures signals the rollover is on the long side. Option trading indicates that the stock could move in the ₹415-460 range.
Strategy: Consider buying 440-call of May series. The option closed with a premium of ₹13.85 on Wednesday. As the market lot is 1,450 shares, this would cost traders ₹20,082.50. The maximum loss would be the premium paid (₹20,082.50) and that will happen if Tata Power fails to move above ₹440. The break-even point is ₹453.85.
We advise traders to keep the stop-loss at ₹8 initially. This can be shifted to ₹12.75 if the premium rises to ₹15. Traders can aim for a target of ₹18.
Follow-up: Suzlon remained resilient last week. Traders could consider holding the position with a stop-loss at ₹53.50.
Note: The recommendations are based on technical analysis and F&O positions. There is a risk of loss in trading
