CoreWeave and Conapto expand AI infrastructure in Sweden

News |

By Asma Adhimi

CoreWeave is expanding its European AI infrastructure with a new co-location agreement in Sweden, adding capacity in Stockholm through a partnership with data center provider Conapto. The move strengthens the company’s presence in one of Europe’s growing AI infrastructure hubs while bringing its latest GPU platforms to regional customers.

For eeNews Europe readers, the announcement highlights the continued investment in European AI compute capacity and the growing importance of sustainable, high-density data centers as AI workloads move into production. It also reflects how cloud providers are competing to deploy next-generation AI hardware closer to European developers and enterprises.

Sweden adds new AI infrastructure capacity

The agreement covers two Conapto campuses in Stockholm, with the first capacity already online at the Stockholm 4 South facility. Both campuses will run on renewable energy, supporting CoreWeave’s expansion while addressing increasing customer demand for energy-efficient AI infrastructure.

The new deployment will offer access to CoreWeave Cloud, which combines high-performance compute, networking, storage and software orchestration for AI training and inference workloads. The installation is powered by NVIDIA Blackwell Architecture and NVIDIA Vera Rubin Platforms connected through NVIDIA Quantum-X800 InfiniBand, giving customers access to the latest AI computing technologies.

The agreement increases CoreWeave’s European footprint to eight sites. Globally, the company operates 49 data centers with more than 1GW of active power and over 3.5GW of contracted power dedicated to AI workloads.

“Sweden has been central to CoreWeave’s European strategy since our first continental investment,” said Sachin Jain, chief operating officer, CoreWeave. “Conapto’s local expertise and sustainable energy profile allows us to provide our customers what they need: urgent high performance AI compute with the reliability and environmental credentials that enterprise AI deployments demand.”

Sustainability meets AI growth

The partnership also places sustainability at the center of the deployment. In addition to using renewable electricity, Conapto integrates heat recovery into Stockholm’s district heating network, allowing waste heat from the data centers to be reused.

“We’re excited to partner with CoreWeave to support the rapidly growing demand for their AI cloud platform,” says Håkan Björklund, CEO, Conapto. “CoreWeave is at the forefront of AI innovation, and we’re proud to provide the resilient, high-density infrastructure needed to power their next phase of growth. Combined with our commitment to 100 percent renewable energy and heat recovery to Stockholm’s district heating network, this partnership demonstrates how advanced AI infrastructure and sustainability can go hand in hand.”

CoreWeave says nine of the world’s ten leading foundation model providers already use its AI cloud platform. The Stockholm expansion is intended to help meet accelerating demand from AI laboratories, enterprises and developers across Europe as generative AI applications increasingly move from experimentation into production.

Representatives from CoreWeave and Conapto are scheduled to discuss Sweden’s role in Europe’s AI infrastructure at Tech Arena during Almedalen on 25 June.
