The playfulness override seems to only function when given a task that playfulness helps to avoid completing Sent out to play : bees are scary. No play Sent to clean : would rather play outside (but won’t because there are bees outside) no play, no clean Sent to clean in a room where there IS a bee : playfulness engaged. Cleaning is completed faster than in room with no bee. In this accidental study, we find that some moments of childhood exist in a state of paradoxical efficiency. Where playing, working, and facing one’s fears all collapse into a single set of decisions. The most vital variable in this process seems to revolve around ensuring that none of these decisions make sense to the parent 🤣
