arachnixe : Also while we’re all talking about anti-racism, here’s a helpful tip: Performative self-flagellation over being white is not a substitute for doing serious introspection about the ways you have been complicit in or rewarded by a white-supremacist society, nor doing the work to dismantle white supremacy. A white person chiming in to a conversation about racism to say “I’m sorry for being white” or “white people suck, I say this as a white person” is just a masturbatory way to try to assuage your own feelings of shame without actually doing anything. It doesn’t make you look like “one of the good ones.” It makes you look like someone who centers your own feelings about it. This is so real. I don’t need an apology. I need you, white person reading this, to tell people about “The Master’s Quest: Meet Annabella” and “The Master’s Quest: The Dancing City” and recommend it with your whole heart. I need you, straight white male reading this, to donate to my ko-fi if you have money that isn’t earmarked for a bill. Especially if you have more than a few thousand dollars laying around. You’ll get that money back from the society that gave it to you in the first place I don’t need you to tell me how much “white people suck”, I need you to read my books yourself and enjoy the writing of a black transgender woman unironically.
