Nvidia 3090 + KDE + Wayland
8K60Hz Samsung QN700B TV + BenQ 4K Monitor
Pretty much most of the time I go full screen MPV will crash itself and wayland. Its probably some conflict in the config but im not sure whats causing as its so random some times I can go an entire day without it happening sometimes it will be constant but I have to reboot every time. Not much in the log

You can do what the guy above said as a temporary workaround probably.
Crashing kwin seems to be a tad extreme of a response for a misconfigured mpv though.
It could be a kwin bug, it could also be an issue with the nvidia drivers, which ones are you using?
Nvidia is latest 595.58.03. It didnt happen as badly on the others so could be a bug
Seems to have fix it for now. So a vulkan issue with kwin / nvidia drivers.

not the driver version, which driver there are a few options for different branches of the nvidia driver. Like nvidia-open or nvidia (closed) and from which repo was it installed.
The same that Cachyos installs by default in the package manger linux-catchyos-nvidia-open now version 7.0.0-1

Hmm i was gonna try to tell you to install the non-open version but it seems it’s no longer available in the official repos, at least i’m not finding it, it was a bit of a longshot anyway.
You shouldn’t have to and ideally do not want to use the opengl renderer in mpv though.
If you open a video with this command:
mpv --no-config --gpu-api=vulkan --vo=gpu-next --hwdec=auto-copy --fullscreen file.mp4
what happens? Obviously you need to replace file.mp4 with a valid file.
Closed hasnt been available for a while now after they stopped on 595. Ill try these in the config rather than terminal.

The whole point of --no-config is to eliminate any other config options you might have, editing your config kinda defeats the point unless these options are the only options in the whole config.
Yea they are. it was blank before this . I was trying some stuff to do with HDR which turns out was no longer needed since 595 either. But really the only thing right now is gpu-api=opengl
vo=gpu-next and that seems to work . Vulkan however does not.

And share the log? maybe it will grant some insight.

I’m not seeing any errors or anything in there, it all looks normal, it’s a tricky one looks like, but i’m a bit stumped tbh, you shuoldn’t be having these problems.
What if you use the x11 backend (forces it to use xwayland isntead of wayland native mpv)
