Hi everyone. I’ve been using CachyOS for months now, and I’m very happy with it. My best Linux experience by far (I only log into Windows for games I can’t play). But recently I’m running into the problem, that when I tell my computer to go to sleep it doesn’t finish and becomes completely unresponsive. I tried several different things Gemini recommended, for example: I use a script to give the computer enough time and I updated several Nvidia settings. But nothing helped. Now when I leave my desk and it tries to enter sleep, it dies and I have to suffocate it to not it up again. Gemini suspects it might be an update made recently, that is supposed to speed up the process. To quote: “One of these updates likely changed how “Atomic Modesetting” is handled, which is exactly why your logs show kwin_wayland screaming about “Permission denied” at the moment of suspend.” This is why I selected the feedback section. Now it’s suggesting I change a bootloader config setting, but I don’t feel comfortable doing that.. I just wanted to bring this up, because I couldn’t find another topic that had this exact issue with sleep (most had to do with the waking from sleep). Anyway, this is what I can say on the bug so far: When going to sleep I see my login screen for a split second My CPU fan keeps spinning (as does the led) My mouse and keyboard become completely unresponsive (pressing caps lock doesn’t trigger the light to switch on and off anymore) Pressing the power button does nothing (until I suffocate it by holding it down) The screens do turn off Lastly, some info on my setup: I’m running the hardened Kernel Kde plasma I keep it up to date Important : my system SSD is in an external enclosure connected via a powered USB hub (this keeps my windows and CachyOS completely separated, I always boot from usb first internal SSD second - as mentioned this never caused an issue in the past) I have a Ryzen 7, I think 3700X? (I’m on my phone right now, can’t check until later :)) RTX 3080 ti MSI Motherboard Logitech mouse and keyboard Let me know, if there is anything else I can provide to help identify the bug. And to anybody who got this far in, thank you very much for your time. Have a nice evening. Best regards, Sean
