hey

i’ve been trying to get VRR working under Hyprland (works fine under Arch Gnome and Win11)

when i enable VRR = 1 i find my monitor switches between three rates ~48hz, ~72hz, and 144hz, and as it switches my screen dims slightly

with VRR = 2 or 3, it’s the same and the monitor still frequently dims regardless of the current Hz; if anything the subtle dimming occurs more frequently and at more varied Hz rates

it’s odd - it’s as if despite freesync being enabled and clearly active, something between AMDGPU and my monitor de-syncs; input latency feels lower, but frame pacing feels jittery :man_shrugging: not sure how best to describe it tbh

using an AMD 7900X iGPU and an AOC monitor via DP

This is out of my knowledge but maybe you need to take a look at your edid, ensure its correct. vrr = 1 should have worked.

Hey man did you find a fix ? Im having the same issue, had to disable vrr

no, but i did take a closer look at what CachyOS thinks my monitor is: right brand; wrong model

i suspect what’s happened is a SKU of monitors was created, all using the same panel; which is interesting really

it kinda suggests features were enabled purely in firmware/EDID, then the SKU was released across an entire price range, despite all essentially being the same panel
