Hey there I am using CachyOS with Cosmic and a German keyboard layout (“de(e1)” to be precise).
Since using CachyOS I had the issue that the camera in some games isn’t working correctly (in STO I can’t move my camera with the mouse and in LotRO and KCD the camera keeps spasming to the top or bottom).
Recently I also got the problem that fullscreen and borderless window don’t work properly either with the panel still showing at the top, cutting off the bottom of the screen and sometimes whole sections of the game being unclickable.
That’s why I resort to using gamescope for a lot of games, which prevents all of these issues. The problem is, that gamescope uses us keyboard layout no matter what layout my system uses.
I have found several guides online saying that I need to set the environment variables: XKB_DEFAULT_LAYOUT=de
XKB_DEFAULT_VARIANT=e1
XKBLAYOUT=de
XKBVARIANT=e1

That sadly hasn’t worked for me. There also is no difference if I start the games with gamescope launch options through steam or through gamescope directly through fish.

My default launch options are gamescope -W 3840 -H 2160 -r 144 -f -- %command%, sometimes adding --force-grab-cursor if needed.
