I tried to find a way to get rid of udev (following the suggestion on the mkinitcpio/Minimal initramfs page from the arch wiki) and found that when doing so with root on zfs the booting time doubles (from 12 seconds to 27 according to systemd-analyze, 15 seconds difference).
