Hi everyone, I was having the exact same issue on a fresh CachyOS installation with an NVIDIA card. Steam would launch silently, get stuck as a background process (“Steam is already running”), but no window would ever show up. The issue is rooted in the built-in Chromium browser (steamwebhelper) failing to initialize hardware acceleration via the 32-bit driver layer during the first setup.
