I change in properties to LibreOffice Writer, but nothing happens.

This needs to be fixed.

Are you talking about Kate or LibreOffice Writer? Those are two different applications.

You change the file association in KDE System Settings app, look for Default Applications and from there you can set File Associations

Although I tried changing the file association from the properties and that worked too. You have to move, in your case, LibreOffice to top of the list and press apply before pressing ok

I do it in properties. That does nothing even though it pretends it does.
