I’m trying to switch to cachyos on my main gaming rig but for some reason my Ethernet DNS resolution is sooooooo slow. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. Any help is appreciated.

MB - Asus x870e-e Gaming WiFi

CPU - Ryzen 9950X3D

GPU - RTX 5090

RAM - Kingston 64gb 6400 mhz

SSD - Samsung 9100 Pro

Oh and my WiFi doesn’t work either so I can’t even switch to WiFi to troubleshoot and using my phone sucks trying to fix these things lolol

Since you mentioned DNS then it might be noted that Cachy uses systemd-resolved by default .. so you might consider configuring or even disabling that - especially if you already use some other fancy caching resolver or something such as a pihole in your network.

Oh shoot I forgot to mention I used the new defaults when I installed and chose limine bootloader and btrfs file system. I’m not sure if that matters. I’m pretty new to Linux in general.

Neither would have any effect here, but more info about the system doesn’t hurt in any case.

Which is why running the bug report script cscs posted is so useful. Since it would give us the most important bits of information, like the motherboard’s networking chipset(s), among other things.

In the terminal:

sudo cachyos-bugreport.sh

You may install the following package from the AUR to make Bluetooth and WIFI work:

“mediatek-mt7927-dkms”

I own the same Mainboard and it seems to work (can switch it on and off, and connect to my WLAN Router - if not necessary I don’t use WLAN)
I hope it will soon be integrated into a newer kernel, making the installation of this package obsolete.
