Two helicopters collided on Sunday in Rio de Janeiro, killing all six people on board, according to Brazilian authorities.
Among those believed to have died in the collision is American musician Oliver Tree, whose name appeared on the flight manifest, according to a police official familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation remains open, News.Az reports, citing The New York Times.
In a statement, the Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro said it responded around 9 a.m. local time on Sunday to a report of a collision involving two aircraft in the southwest zone of Rio.
According to the agency, the helicopters collided in midair and crashed into the parking lot of a car dealership where electric vehicles were parked, triggering a fire that involved at least 20 cars.
The agency did not identify the victims of the crash, and the cause of the collision was not immediately determined.
Mr. Tree, 32, had performed in Argentina this month as part of his world tour, The Associated Press reported.
On Saturday, Mr. Tree posted a video to his Instagram account showing him appearing to play soccer in Brazil.
