THERE ARE A whopping 12 Harlan Coben series on Netflix, and another one joins them this weekend. The American author is a dab hand at whipping up gripping thrillers, and struck a multi-million-dollar contract with Netflix back in 2018 after the first adaptation of one of his books, Safe, was a massive success.
Other series that followed include Missing You, Fool Me Once, and The Innocent.
His latest is I Will Find You, based on his 2023 novel of the same name. It has the biggest cast names yet, but what else can we expect from this series? Here’s what you need to know.
Who stars in it?
Remember how mad we all (rightly) were after the series Severance? Well, if you were a fan you’ll be delighted to hear that its star Britt Lower (who plays Helly R) is in I Will Find You. It’s her first TV role since Severance.
Also starring is Sam Worthington – yes, the lad from the Avatar films.
They play Rachel Mills and David Burroughs, while Milo Ventimiglia plays a character called Hayden.
What’s this series all about?
David Burroughs (Sam Worthington’s character) is serving a life sentence in jail for the murder of his young son. He claims he is innocent of the crime.
A few years into his stint, Rachel (Britt Lower), his ex-sister-in-law, visits him in jail to tell him that she has evidence his son is actually alive.
So what does David do?
He decides he must break out of jail to uncover the truth.

Is that it?
Well, this being a Harlan Coben series, you can expect a LOT of twists and turns. His series are known for having constant twists, some of which are completely bonkers. Nothing is straightforward in his books or the Netflix adaptations.
Here’s more on the characters: Rachel was a successful reporter, but she was fired after an incident. So she wants to help David as it could have a positive impact on her career.
Milo Ventimiglia plays her ex-boyfriend, who works for his family’s philanthropic foundations.
Then there’s Cheryl Dreason (Erin Richards), David’s ex-wife, a surgeon who’s been rebuilding her life after the family tragedy. Does David’s attempt to find his son threaten to unravel secrets she wants buried? You bet your bottom dollar.
Another important character is Sgt Adam Mackenzie (Jonathan Tucker). Might he come in handy helping David escape prison? Well, the pair are close friends…
Anything else notable about this series?
It’s the first Harlan Coben series set in the US – his other projects have been filmed in countries like the UK, France and Spain.
It’ll be interesting to see how I Will Find You compares to his other series. Frankly, they often strain credulity, but we stay glued to them to see how they conclude. Coben’s got millions of fans (he’s sold 80 million books in print worldwide, according to Netflix), so this formula is certainly a winning one for him.
