IT’S SET TO be an unsettled week of weather with rain or showers expected every day.
Met Éireann said conditions will be breezy at times, with cooler temperatures also forecast following the hot spell experienced at the end of May.
Today, scattered showers will continue into the afternoon and become heavy at times, especially in the east. The showers will become more isolated and lighter this evening, and there may be some occasional sunny breaks. Highs of between 14 and 19C.
After a dry start, it will become cloudy and wet tonight as rain extends from the southwest, with lowest temperatures of 9 to 12C.
The rain will clear northeastwards on Wednesday morning and will be followed by frequent showers through the rest of the day. Some of these will be heavy, with Met Éireann saying thunderstorms are possible. Highs of 13 to 18C are expected with a moderate to fresh south to southwest breeze.
Wednesday night will be cloudy and unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain. Light winds will become breezier overnight as moderate to fresh westerly winds develop. Lowest temperatures of between 9 to 11C.
It will be cool and blustery with widespread showers on Thursday, which will turn into longer spells of rain at times. The showers will become less frequent later in the day and some sunny spells will develop, with highs of 12 to 16C.
Clear spells and scattered showers are expected on Thursday night, mainly over the western half of the country. Lows of 5 to 8C with light to moderate west to southwest winds.
Friday morning will be mostly dry with sunny spells, but showers will develop in western areas and extend eastwards through the day. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15C.
