A MAN AGED in his 40s has died after his motorcycle collided with a car on Sunday afternoon in Co Cork.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to report of the collision on the N73 near Mitchelstown that occurred at approximately 1.40pm.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His body has been removed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The coroner has been notified.
The female driver of the car – aged in her 30s – was conveyed to Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel as a precaution according to gardaí.
No other injuries were reported from the incident.
The road was subject to technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and has since reopened.
Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses following the fatal road collision.
Road users who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – and were travelling on the N73 near Mitchelstown between 1.00pm and 2.00pm on Sunday are asked to make this available to investigators.
