INSTAGRAM AND FACEBOOK users have encountered issues with the platforms this evening following a major outage.
On site Downdetector, which registers issues with various networks via crowdsourcing, over 18,200 people in Ireland reported problems with Instagram as of 10.40pm.
There was also a surge in reported issues with Facebook which, like Instagram, is owned by Meta.
Meta has yet to issue a statement on what caused the outage and when it will be resolved.
The mobile apps for both platforms are most-impacted by the outage, according to reports.
Users on X described the problems they encountered. Some said their Instagram or Facebook feed won’t load, while others said they weren’t even able to open the app.
