A STATUS YELLOW rain warning has been issued for Cork and Kerry on Thursday.
The warning will come into effect at 9pm on Thursday and remain in place until noon on Friday.
Met Éireann said the two counties will be hit by “spells of heavy rain”, with potential impacts including spot flooding and difficult travelling conditions.
It’s yet another turn in unpredictable weather this June – as heat similar to that of May is expected to spread across Europe next week.
Today is said to be generally dry with a few passing showers mainly over western and northern countries. Highest temperatures today are to be between 16 and 21 degrees.
Tonight, rain is expected to be heavy in places, particularly in the south. The “odd thundery downpour” is possible, Met Éireann said.
Thursday will get off to a “wet start”, with widespread rain to begin and grow more patchy and intermittent throughout the day.
At the moment, it appears that the weather will gradually improve throughout the rest of the week – although the weather forecaster cautioned there is “some uncertainty in the exact details”.
