The index is based on a representative sample of over 5,000 adults across Ireland between January and March, and  measures their perceptions of 100 of the largest, most familiar, and most important organisations in Ireland across 16 sectors.  Companies are ranked on a reputation score from 0-100 and are grouped as excellent (80+), strong (70-79), average (60-69), weak (40-59) or poor (Below 40).  

Compiled by The Reputations Agency with RepTrak, the index analysis looks to understand which components are driving reputation and what the public expects from the country’s leading organisations. The most important drivers of reputation, in order of priority, are conduct, products and services, citizenship, leadership, workplace, innovation, and performance.

Credit unions came out on top, achieving an excellent reputation score of 81.7. Credit unions were perceived to be the most fair, friendly, genuine, and sincere organisation among the 100 studied.

"This recognition reflects the enduring trust that people across Ireland continue to place in their local credit unions, alongside the positive response from members to the continued evolution of our services and customer offering," said Irish League of Credit Unions chief executive David Malone. "This ranking is particularly meaningful because it is grounded in the everyday work being carried out by credit unions nationwide to deliver high-quality financial services. It also highlights our commitment to remaining deeply connected to the communities we serve, all while continuing to invest in innovation, digital capability and the future development of our wider services.”

The most improved firms on the index this year were RTÉ, Ryanair, and the FAI.
