Showers will become more frequent in the west towards evening, while sunny spells will also develop at times, with highs of 13C to 18C, or 19C in some areas.

It will remain cloudy overnight with scattered showers, some turning heavy, with lows of 6C to 10C, along with mist and fog.

Saturday is forecast to be another cloudy day with widespread showers; however, some brighter spells will develop during the day.

The showers may be heavy at times, with the chance of thunder. Daytime temperatures will also become slightly cooler, ranging between 12C and 16C.

Showers will continue on Saturday night, but drier and clearer spells are expected to develop over the northern half of the country towards morning.

Sunday will see cloudy conditions, but sunny spells will also develop, with scattered showers, some turning heavy with the chance of thunder. Temperatures are expected to reach 12C to 15C.

Clearer conditions will develop later in the evening, with isolated showers gradually dying out; it will remain cloudier further west. Lows of 3C to 8C are expected on Sunday night, with light winds.

Outlook for next week 

Looking ahead to Bank Holiday Monday, it will be a generally cloudy day but will stay mostly dry, apart from some patchy light rain or drizzle, with highs of 10C to 14C.

Tuesday is expected to bring similar conditions, clearing later in the day, with slightly cooler temperatures ranging between 9C and 13C.

A further outlook into next week suggests a return of high pressure, which could bring drier and milder conditions. However, conditions are expected to remain largely cloudy.
