Cathal O’Neill has emerged as a doubt for Limerick’s All-Ireland SHC semi-final on Sunday, July 5.
O’Neill sustained a hamstring injury during the first half of their Munster final win earlier this month, forcing the half-forward to depart the Páirc Uí Chaoimh action on 35 minutes.
“Cathal is just in the early stages of his rehab after a bit of a hamstring tear,” manager John Kiely has told the Limerick Leader.
“We'll be monitoring him in the weeks ahead just to see how he's faring. But at the moment, it's still very early days in his recovery so we'll just give him a chance and we'll see where it takes him in the coming weeks
“He's going to be given the time to get that rehab work done and see where it takes him. You couldn’t make a call at this stage, it’s too far out.”
Having overcome a separate hamstring injury during the winter, O’Neill was one of Limerick’s leading figures during the county's run to League ribbons.
That form was carried into the Munster round-robin, with O’Neill clipping five points from play in the first half alone of their Round 4 win over Waterford.
