Musgrave Park (Virgin Media Park) Cork FAQs: Directions, tickets, food and drink, parking...
Breda Graham · 2026-06-11 · via IrishExaminer.com

The summer season of gigs at Musgrave Park (Virgin Media Park) is well and truly underway, after four electric performances so far this month.

Standout heroes of the current Irish folk revival, Kingfishr, kicked off the 2026 summer series on June 11 and performed a second night at the venue on June 12, showcasing their gift of writing songs with heartbreaking lyrics and toe-tapping melodies.

Kodaline brought their Farewell tour to the stadium last Friday night, playing hit tunes such as Brand New Day, Ready, and All I Want to a Cork crowd for the final time, after the Irish indie-pop band made the “bittersweet” decision to say goodbye to Kodaline after more than a decade together.

Last Saturday, CMAT, who has built a reputation as one of the most flawless live performers on the circuit, commandeered the stadium stage and had the crowd moving as one.

Tonight, Alanis Morissette will take to the stage. The Lumineers will play on Thursday night and Amble will play to a sold-out crowd on Friday night.

How do I get to Musgrave Park (Virgin Media Park)?

Musgrave Park (Virgin Media Park) is located on Pearse Road in Ballyphehane, on Cork City’s southside. Primarily a rugby stadium, it has hosted a series of summer gigs in recent years.   Be warned that traffic can get very heavy immediately before and after the gigs.

Walking: The stadium is about a 33-minute walk from the city centre. It is a 10-minute walk from Black Ash Park and Ride, where people travelling to the concerts by car are advised to park.

By bus: Bus Eireann runs services from the city centre that will bring concert goers within walking distance of the stadium. Bus numbers 203 and 213.

By car: People travelling to the concerts by car are advised to park at Black Ash (a 10-minute walk to Musgrave Park).

Organisers warn that there is no concert parking or drop-off permitted on Connolly Road, Slieve Mish Park or Green Lawn. There will be local road closures in place.

What time does the site open?

Gates to the venue will open at 5pm. Last permitted entry into the stadium will be at 9.30pm. In recent years, the main acts are usually on stage by about 8.30pm-9pm, with support in the preceding hours. Gigs finish around 10.30pm.

Tickets

People are advised to download their tickets to their phone ahead of the event. Screenshots will not work as barcodes are live and updating regularly.

There is one box office at the Pearse Road entrance.

Concert-goers are advised to be inside the venue 30 minutes before the show starts.

Available tickets are available to purchase via the official Ticketmaster website.

Entering the stadium

There are three entrances. You must enter through whichever gate is detailed on your ticket.

Green Route (Pitch standing): Enter via Gate B – Tramore Road

Red Route (Front standing): Enter via Gate C - Pearse Road

Blue Route (Unreserved seating): Enter via Gate C – Pearse Road

Check the event website for a full list of permitted objects, but patrons are especially advised not to bring large bags/backpacks as they may experience delays or be refused entry.

There are no re-admissions to the concert. If you leave, there is no re-entry permitted.

Food and drink

There are a large number of food trucks within the stadium, mostly located in an area off the main concert arena. There are also plenty of bar outlets. Be sure to have a your card or phone as it's a cashless venue.

Pints cost in the region of €7.50, premixed cans of vodka or gin are €9, and wines are €9.

Nearby food: The Turner's Cross area has a McDonald’s, while the Turners Cross Tavern also serves food. Other fast food outlets in the area include CF Lennox, Dinos, and Donatellos.

Nearby pubs: The Corner Flag, Tory Top Bar, The Beer Garden, Turners Cross Tavern, The Mountain Bar.

What is the weather forecast looking like?

As the hot weather continues to sweep across the country, Wednesday night looks like another dry one. Thursday will be hot and humid, with a chance of heavy showers and possible thunderstorms developing in the evening. Friday will be another mild and humid night, with a mix of cloud and clear skies and a chance of some patchy rain.
