An AI-native platform for enterprise risk management co-founded by Co Kerry native Daniel Nolan has emerged from stealth following a $1m pre-seed round.

Funding into the start-up, called Prism Layer, was led by Fenway Summer, with participation from Plural Ventures and angel investors.

Nolan and his co-founders Simone Garreau and Chandra Bradley were formerly risk executives at Block. Their new joint venture aims to address risk management in enterprises, something they say hasn’t “meaningfully changed” over the past two decades.

The Washington DC-based company said early alpha users of its tool have already seen enterprise risk assessments completed in days, instead of months. It is currently onboarding its first enterprise customers.

“The tension between business speed and risk analysis speed is not a people problem, it is a tech and infrastructure problem,” said Garreau, the company’s CEO. “Regulated industries have been managing that tension for 20 years because the ability to resolve that did not exist.”

Prism Layer encodes an organisation’s risk frameworks, regulatory context and institutional knowledge into an agentic execution layer that produces risk analysis.

“Prism Layer is solving one of the most consequential and consistently underestimated problems in regulated industries,” said Raj Date, managing partner at Fenway Summer.

“The speed gap between business execution and risk assessment is not a competitive inconvenience. It is a systemic liability. Simone and her team have the domain depth and the technical architecture to close this critical gap.”

Nolan, who lives in Cork, has worked in risk frameworks across the US, Europe and Australia, with experience working with government bodies.

Garreau’s enterprise risk experience also spans Western Union, Robinhood and Remitly. Bradley has previously worked with Visa and Oportun.
