Dublin start-up Zellor bags €850k for AI shopping assistant

Zellor’s AI assistant acts as a ‘digital concierge’ that responds to customer queries with AI-curated content.

Irish e-commerce technology company Zellor has raised €850,000 in its very first external funding round. The 2022-founded start-up, led by CEO Niall O’Sullivan, received backing from Enterprise Ireland and a number of strategic Irish investors.

The funding will assist the Dublin-based company in its international go-to-market push, accelerate product development, and support the scaling of its engineering and commercial teams, Zellor said. The start-up is targeting the UK and global beauty, wellness and lifestyle markets this year.

Zellor, which describes itself as an “AI-first company”, has developed a video commerce infrastructure for beauty brands by turning content libraries into “personalised, shoppable experiences” that shoppers can interact with. The brand promises to help retailers increase conversion rates and reduce cart abandonment in online shopping.

The company’s newly launched AI shopping assistant is marketed as a “24/7 digital concierge” that responds to complex customer queries with “dynamic” video content.

Sample uses include shoppers asking for recommendations or further information on products, which the AI ‘concierge’ delivers after drawing from the catalogue of data it collects from brands.

Zellor said that its AI assistant transforms brand video libraries into “real-time shopping conversations” that resemble content from TikTok and Instagram. It describes its platform as a “fully shoppable, guided buying experience”.

The platform is already live in Ireland, featuring brands including Poco Beauty, TanOrganic and Cocoa Brown. Zellor said its partners are reporting conversion lifts of up to 25pc.

“We’re delighted to have the support of Enterprise Ireland and our Irish investors as we enter our next phase of growth,” said O’Sullivan.

“Video has become the dominant language of product discovery, yet most e-commerce experiences remain static. At Zellor, we’re changing that by turning brand video libraries into intelligent, real-time shopping conversations.”

Donnchadh Cullinan, the head of enterprise solutions at Enterprise Ireland, remarked that Zellor delivers a “cutting‑edge solution that harnesses new technologies and AI to help customers drive sales and growth while enhancing the experience for consumers.”
