What is it?

The Lucky 4 Card Deck extends the expansion interface on a Replica-1 Plus by four card slots. It also includes two optional headers connected to 5V. Since the +12V and -12V power signals from the Apple-1 are not present on the Replica-1 Plus, they are not connected in this design. This also simplifies routing. The board features verbose silkscreen detailing the pin mapping of the expansion interface on the top-side and artistic silkscreen on the bottom. The design has only been tested with a Replica-1 Plus.

Why did you make it?

This project started with the desire to design expansion cards for my Apple-1 replica, the Replica-1 Plus from Briel Computers. I searched the web for expansion interface extender boards that were available to order but could not find any. I did find documentation for various expansion interface extender boards that have been designed over the years and they informed this design. You can read more on my website:

What makes it special?

• Adds 4 additional Expansion Interface slots to your Replica-1 Plus.
• 1" slot to slot spacing
• The design has been tested with a CFFA1 in the "Club" slot which is the worst case distance from the Replica-1 Plus and it worked!
• It features capacitor buffered 5V output for things like fans, LEDs, etc (Adding the bulk capacitors will delay the startup of the Replica-1 Plus by a couple of seconds)
• This PCBA features Full Bellows Connectors
• Artistic bottom side silkscreen featuring a take on the classic "great artists steal" line as well as an homage to one of my favorite corporate logos.
