Circuit Board Replacement for the Volvo R-Sport / GT Cluster

This is a redesigned replacement PCB for the Volvo R-Sport / GT instrument cluster. The original OEM boards were manufactured using older PCB materials that can become brittle over time, often leading to cracking, broken traces, and intermittent electrical failures.

This upgraded board improves durability, electrical stability, and thermal performance while maintaining compatibility with the original cluster design.

It is intended as a replacement for failed or aging original boards.

  • Cleaner and more optimized PCB layout with updated routing
  • Improved voltage regulation stability across load and temperature changes
  • Components selected to meet or exceed original manufacturer specifications
  • Improved long-term reliability for restoration and repair use

Voltage Regulator Options (2 Variants Available)

  • Standard Version

    • OEM-style spade connector layout for direct compatibility with old regulator
  • Modern Linear Regulator Version

    • Modern linear voltage regulator soldered directly to the PCB. (spade connectors on front left unpopulated)
    • Improved stability compared to original legacy regulator design
    • Lower dropout voltage for better performance at low input voltage
    • Better thermal behavior across varying loads
    • PCB used as the primary heat-spreading surface (no external heatsink required)

Additional Design Improvements

  • Through-hole diodes replaced with modern SMD components
  • Routing redesigned to eliminate unnecessary trace crossovers on the rear layer
  • Cleaner and more efficient signal path layout
  • 2-layer PCB design for improved manufacturing consistency and control
  • Rear layer is now used as a copper pour heatsink, ensuring controlled thermal performance through the regulator design
  • Overall layout is more compact and modernized compared to the original board

Fitment & Compatibility

Please ensure your cluster matches the Volvo R-Sport / GT PCB design before purchase. While most known clusters use the same layout, variations may exist depending on production year or previous repairs.

This board is designed as a direct replacement for the original factory PCB used in Volvo R-Sport / GT instrument clusters.
