Garion Thorne dives into tonight’s nine-game MLB DFS slate to find three value options for your DraftKings lineups.
It’s a big night in the world of sports. The first-round of the NBA Draft is this evening, while the Group Stage of the World Cup is ongoing. However, we’re going to focus on the nine-game featured MLB slate on DraftKings. It’s called having priorities, people.
Let’s dig in and find some value picks on the diamond.

This is a weird slate for pitching. To wit, on the other side of this specific matchup, Parker Messick ($9,300) checks in as the lone starter above $9,000. So, this isn’t going to be one of those nights where you’re breaking the bank on the mound. That said, Burke feels like a really good value at just $7,000. The right-hander has been a consistent member of Chicago’s rotation in 2026, and his last five outings have been of particular interest. Dating back to May 26, Burke is in possession of a 3.54 ERA and a 30.7% strikeout rate. That’s quite a bit of upside from an asset that’s this far down the pricing list.
Having the Guardians as an opponent is pretty amazing, too. While it seems like every team is suddenly mashing at the plate — yet again there appears to be a new baseball — Cleveland is struggling to score runs. Over the past two weeks, the Guardians’ .276 expected wOBA is the lowest mark in the whole league, while the club’s 28.9% strikeout rate is the highest figure in MLB. Need I say more?
It still feels odd to be able to get Devers into a build for less than $4,000, but that’s the reality we’ve been living in for over a week now. To be fair, it’s not like Devers has earned a higher price tag. The left-handed slugger comes into play on Tuesday with just a 103 wRC+ and a .303 expected wOBA — his lowest mark in a season since his rookie campaign in 2017. Still, it’s not like Devers is completely without merit. He has two long balls in his past five games and his 50.2% hard hit rate sits in the 89th percentile of the sport. There remains potential and upside.
There’s also the matter of Aaron Civale ($6,500) taking the mound for the A’s this evening. In Civale’s past four starts, which have been sandwiched around an IL stint, he’s surrendered 20 earned runs in 17.0 innings. Left-handed opponents are especially haunting the veteran RHP, as those within the split have combined to slash .326/.391/.574 with a .415 wOBA this season. Woof.
From the Red Sox’s former third baseman to their current one. How fitting.
There is no denying that Durbin got off to a horrendous start in his time in Boston, but things have been getting better lately. In fact, in the month of June, Durbin is slashing .328/.355/.621 with a .293 ISO and a 160 wRC+ over 62 plate appearances. Now, he’ll get to face a rookie left-hander making his home debut for the Rockies. Youth and Coors Field. What a dangerous combo.
Sean Sullivan ($5,000) allowed eight earned runs in his last outing at Wrigley Field. I can’t imagine he’ll have an easier time at Coors — especially if a 71.4% fly ball rate persists. At the end of the day, Sullivan is a soft-tossing southpaw who relies heavily on deception. That just doesn’t feel like a recipe for success in the altitude, and I think Durbin can take advantage.
