Alex Hunter breaks down his favorite WNBA player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Sunday’s matchup between the Valkyries and Aces.
For the lone WNBA game on Sunday, two of the league’s best will be going head-to-head with the Valkyries hosting the Aces at 3:30 PM EST. Below, I have featured three of my favorite prop bets for this contest on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Young has taken a step backwards this season, averaging 10.1 PPG after averaging 16.5 last season. Her shooting has been much worse, shooting 34% from the field compared to 47% a year ago. Another huge factor is the presence of Chennedy Carter. The guard signed with the Aces this offseason and she is handling a massive 30.5% usage rate as Las Vegas’s first option off the bench.
With the ball-dominant Carter in the picture, Young’s usage has dropped from 23.3% last season to 20.9% this season. The guard has fallen short of 14.5 points in 5-of-7 games, including two scoreless outings. Ranking dead last in pace and second in defensive rating, the Valkyries are a brutal matchup and Young’s ugly start to the season should continue in this spot.
Burton is in the midst of a career-best season and her outside shooting has been better than ever. Burton is shooting 41% on three-pointers and averaging 1.9 made treys per game, both of which are career highs.
Burton has knocked down multiple treys in 5-of-7 games and she should reach this feat in this plus spot vs. the Aces. This season, Las Vegas ranks 10th in defensive rating and it is allowing the second-highest three-point percentage in the league (36.5%).
Williams has been a great fit with the Valkyries this season. The forward is averaging a career-high 14.3 PPG on 40% shooting. Williams is logging 25.3 minutes per game and she is handling a 25.6% usage rate, which is easily the highest of her career.
Before this season, the highest usage rate of Williams’ career was 21% in 2019. The 29-year-old has scored at least 15 points in 5-of-7 games, most recently with 19 points vs. the Fever on Thursday. Williams hasn’t finished with less than 15 points in all four of her home starts and 12.5 points is just too low of a number for her vs. this Aces defense that ranks 10th in rating.
