Find out the purse breakdown and payouts for the 2026 U.S. Open.
This year’s edition of the U.S. Open will come to a close on Sunday, June 21, at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York. As the third major of the season, the U.S. Open has a total purse of $22.5 million, with the winner receiving $4.5 million. It’s a $1 million increase from last year’s purse at the event and the largest purse ever awarded for a U.S. Open.
Wyndham Clark starts the day with a commanding lead, but big names like Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa and Matt Fitzpatrick all start the day in the top 10. With a six-stroke lead, Clark is in a great position to claim the second U.S. Open win of his career if he can continue his success. The victory would be his fifth career win on the PGA TOUR and his second in the last month, after winning THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch on May 24.
Here’s how the top-25 will pay out at the end of the tournament. Ties will be evenly divided among the included positions. For example, a four-way tie for fourth would result in the total purse for fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh getting evenly divided between the four players.
