Alex Hunter previews the Cadillac Championship and gives his picks for your DraftKings fantasy golf lineups.
The Cadillac Championship will be played at the Blue Monster Course (par 72, 7,739 yards, Bermuda greens) of Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida. The WGC-Cadillac Championship was played at the Blue Monster Course from 2007-2016. In that final year, Adam Scott (-12) won by one shot. As one of the PGA TOUR’s eight Signature Events this season, there will be 72 golfers competing this week for a $20 million purse and there will be no cut.
Below, I dive into three of my favorite DFS options on DraftKings for the Cadillac Championship.

With the very long Blue Monster on tap this week, Gotterup is a strong spend. The Blue Monster is the second-longest course on the PGA TOUR this season and each of the past two winners at this track has finished the event in the top 12 in both SG OTT and driving distance. Gotterup passes these tests with flying colors, as he ranks top-eight in both SG OTT and driving distance this season. Gotterup also ranks fifth in par five performance, which is another great sign for the Blue Monster, as three of the past five victors here have finished the week top-three in par five scoring.
Gotterup is in the midst of his best season on the PGA TOUR. The Rutgers product has made 9 of 10 cuts and carded seven top-25 finishes. Gotterup began his season with a win at the Sony Open and then he won the WM Phoenix Open at the driver-heavy TPC Scottsdale just two weeks later. Gotterup and Matt Fitzpatrick are the only two players with multiple wins on the PGA TOUR this season. Most recently, Gotterup just finished T25th at the RBC Heritage in his last start and he caught fire on the weekend at Harbour Town Golf Links. Gotterup shot a 2-under 69 in the third round and 6-under 65 in the final round. If Gotterup can carry this momentum over to the Blue Monster, he could contend.
Theegala leads the PGA TOUR in par five performance this season and he should perform well in his first attempt at the Blue Monster this week. Theegala has also made 10-of-11 solo cuts and he has produced seven top-25 finishes this season.
His driving stats for the season aren’t great, but he has thrived at many driver-heavy courses, most notably with a T10 finish at the Houston Open last month and a T7 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open in February. The Farmers was played at the South Course of Torrey Pines, which is the only track on the PGA TOUR schedule this season that is longer than the Blue Monster. Theegala ranked sixth in SG APP during his T25th finish at the RBC Heritage in his last solo start, which bodes well for the Blue Monster, as three of the past five victors here have led their fields in SG APP.
Yellamaraju is having an awesome rookie season on the PGA TOUR. The Canadian has only missed one cut in 10 solo starts and he has finished inside the top 20 five times, most impressively with a T5 at THE PLAYERS Championship, which was played at another difficult Florida venue in TPC Sawgrass.
Yellamaraju checks many boxes for the Blue Monster. The 24-year-old ranks in the top 35 in SG APP, SG OTT, driving distance and par five performance. Yellamaraju has shot under par in 11 of his past 14 solo rounds and this salary is simply too low for the ascending rookie.
