MLB Best Bets: Top Home Run Props for Sunday 5/3/26
Zach Thompso · 2026-05-04 · via DraftKings Network

Zach Thompson details his top home run props for Sunday’s MLB slate, including bets for Chase DeLauter, Munetaka Murakami and Kerry Carpenter.

Major League Baseball has another great Sunday of baseball to close out the weekend, with many series coming to a close throughout the day. In this post, we’ll take a look at the five games starting at 4:05 p.m. ET or later and pick out a few home run props that make sense to target. The weather looks clear for the later games, with warm temperatures and the wind blowing out in several places. Let’s pinpoint a few of the top options for home run props on DraftKings Sportsbook to close out a full weekend with some long balls.

As we dig into the box and get ready to swing for the fences, let’s start with a reminder that all home run props are long-shot bets. However, when a player you’ve selected goes yard, it’s an awesome event to celebrate that can also build your bankroll quickly. Even the top power hitters are more likely not to homer than to go yard on any given day, though, so it’s important not to be too aggressive. By looking at the matchups, current form, game environment and history, some players stand out as good options. You can play these props individually or choose to combine them in parlay or round robin formats to maximize the potential payout.

Here are my top three home run prop picks on DraftKings Sportsbook for Sunday: Chase DeLauter, Munetaka Murakami and Kerry Carpenter.

Top MLB Home Run Props

Chase DeLauter 1+ Home Run (+366)

The Guardians are looking to close out a sweep of the A’s in Sacramento, where the weather has been great for home runs at Sutter Health Park. Cleveland has hit four homers in the first two games, and yesterday it was Kyle Manzardo breaking a long homerless stretch and delivering the big blow off the bench. On Sunday, DeLauter will also try to get back in the home run column. The 24-year-old rookie has five homers on the season, but four of those dingers came in his first three games. He hasn’t homered in his last 24 games (99 plate appearances), but he has started looking much better at the plate in the last few games and could be on the verge of a breakthrough.

Over his last nine games, he is 15-for-31 (.484) with three doubles, five walks and only two strikeouts. He has 10 hard-hit balls in those nine games with a 34.5% hard-hit rate. He will look to go yard on Sunday against former Guardians starter Aaron Civale, who is 2-1 in his six starts with the A’s, posting a 4.66 ERA and 4.84 xFIP in his limited home starts. Lefties like DeLauter are hitting .400 against him at Sutter Health Park, with a .445 wOBA. Lefties have also hit two of the three homers he has allowed this year.

It’s been a while since his opening-series power surge, but his swing should play up in the warm temperatures in Sacramento with the wind blowing out.

Munetaka Murakami 1+ Home Run (+352)

Another rookie with plenty of power potential in the later window is White Sox slugger Munetaka Murakami. Murakami has an MLB-leading 13 homers in his 33 games. He’s hitting a solid .231 but his .333 ISO and .399 wOBA reflect his big-time power potential.

Murakami has a 62.9% hard-hit range and 22.9% barrel rate. He leads the majors in hard-hit rate and is also in the top 10 in average exit velocity as well. He homered on Friday in the series opener but not on Saturday, when he went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts.

On Sunday, he’ll face Griffin Canning, who will be making his first start since suffering a torn left Achilles in June of 2025 when he was with the Mets. Canning has been a little homer-prone throughout his career, with lefties hitting 21 of the 39 homers he gave up over his last season and a half before the injury.

Getting Murakami at over +350 is solid value given how much homer potential he’s put on display in his first 33 games with the White Sox.

Kerry Carpenter 1+ Home Run (+475)

On Sunday Night Baseball, the Rangers and Tigers play in tough home run conditions at Comerica Park. The wind will be blowing in from right field, which could put a damper on power production, even though temperatures will be over 60 degrees. A lot of that risk is baked into the home run props for this matchup, though, which is why Kerry Bonds is available at such long odds.

Carpenter leads the Tigers with six homers on the season, and even though he’s only hitting .211, he has a .478 SLG and .339 wOBA. All six of his homers have come against right-handed pitchers, and four have happened while he’s playing at Comerica Park.

He’ll be taking on righty Jack Leiter on Sunday night, who has served up six homers in his six starts this season, including three in his last start against the Yankees. Lefties have four of those six homers with a .400 wOBA against him this season. Leiter has a high ceiling but has especially struggled on the road, with a 5.87 ERA and 5.50 FIP in his 15 1/3 innings away from Globe Life Field.
