Alex Hunter previews the CJ CUP Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch and gives his picks for your DraftKings fantasy golf lineups.
TPC Craig Ranch (par 71, 7,385 yards, bentgrass greens) in McKinney, Texas, will host the CJ CUP Byron Nelson for the sixth straight year. Scottie Scheffler (-31) won this event by a whopping eight shots a year ago. There will be 147 golfers competing at TPC Craig Ranch and a top-65 and ties cut after the first two rounds.
Below, I dive into three of my favorite DFS options on DraftKings for the CJ CUP Byron Nelson.

Spieth is on the cusp of contending again and this is the perfect place for the 13-time PGA TOUR winner to break out. Spieth has only missed one cut in 13 starts this season and he has finished inside the top-25 seven times. At the PGA Championship last week, Spieth finished T-18 and he concluded the major with a 2-under 68 at the challenging Aronimink GC. Outside of with his putter, Spieth gained strokes in every major category at the major.
Spieth now heads to TPC Craig Ranch, which is a home game for the former Texas Longhorn, who grew up just about a half hour south of the par 71 in Dallas. Spieth always looks forward to this event and he has flourished at TPC Craig Ranch throughout his career, finishing T-9, runner-up, MC and fourth in four starts. That fourth-place finish came just last season and Spieth posted a 9-under 62 in the final round, which is one stroke shy of his career low. In this field, Spieth ranks second only to Scheffler in strokes gained per round at TPC Craig Ranch.
Moreover, Spieth ranks second only to Scheffler in strokes gained per round at courses in Texas. Spieth has won twice in the Lone Star State and the Texas native should provide his first top-10 finish of the season this week.
Cole has played very well at TPC Craig Ranch in the past. In his two starts at this track, Cole has finished T-23 in 2023 and T-5 last season. The veteran ranks seventh among this field in strokes gained per round at TPC Craig Ranch.
Returning to the venue this week, Cole is in compelling form. In his last three starts, Cole has finished T-14 at the Valero Texas Open, T-6 at the team-based Zurich Classic with Hank Lebioda as his partner and T-6 at the Myrtle Beach Classic. Cole has gained strokes on approach and with his putter in back-to-back solo starts and he has shot under par in his last eight solo rounds, including a 6-under 65 at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club two weeks ago.
Cole ranks 18th in SGP this season and he should produce another high finish at the scoreable TPC Craig Ranch. Four of the five winners at this par 71 have finished the event top-15 in SGP.
Kim has made 3-of-4 cuts at TPC Craig Ranch – highlighted by a T-17 in 2022 – and he is fresh off a T-6 at the Myrtle Beach Classic, which is his ninth made cut in 10 solo starts season. This marked Kim’s best finish of 2026 and he gained 1.75 strokes on approach at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.
This ranked second for the tournament and is the most Kim has generated in the metric since last July. If Kim can carry this over to TPC Craig Ranch, where approach play is extremely important, the three-time PGA TOUR winner could contend. Of the five winners at TPC Craig Ranch, four finished the week top-eight in SG APP.
