We’ve got a slightly odd 14-game MLB slate this evening, which means some heavy favorites on the DraftKings Sportsbook in very advantageous spots. This is not a place where we’re going to be breaking down any plus-money upsets. Instead, we’ll be looking at the best games to stack together in a parlay, so you can hopefully TGIF with a little money in your pocket.
Tonight, it’s a three-leg moneyline parlay. Allow me to break down each contest.
12-game losing streak? What are you talking about? The Mets are red-hot at the moment, having won each of their past two games. Does this all sound a little patronizing? Of course, but I think New York fans might need me to be gentle at the moment. Also, this pick’s inclusion in the parlay has barely anything to do with the Mets themselves. It’s certainly nice that Freddy Peralta is taking the mound, but this is way more about the presence of the Rockies. Colorado’s lost 10 of its last 14 contests and is in possession of a .228 average and an 86 wRC+ away from Coors Field, as per usual. As for Michael Lorenzen, the 34-year-old comes into Friday with a 7.48 ERA and a third percentile opponent batting average (.321). He’s not very good.
While the ideal iteration of the Yankees’ rotation in 2026 includes three high-priced free agents, this is an organization that has proven time and time again in recent years that it knows how to develop pitching. Will Warren might be the latest example of that trend. The 26-year-old has looked amazing in his first five outings of the season, maintaining a 2.49 ERA and a 3.07 FIP. Warren also sports a 29.5% strikeout rate and a 50.7% ground ball rate. It’s not like you have to do all that much to give this lineup a chance to win, either. After a bit of a slow start, New York’s lineup has woken up over the past two weeks, posting an MLB-best .228 ISO to go along with a .368 expected wOBA that ranks second in the league during the span. I have my doubts that Lance McCullers Jr. and his 10th percentile opponent hard hit rate (50.0%) will be able to keep the Yankees quiet on Friday.
I’m putting a lot of eggs in the Framber Valdez basket with this one. The veteran’s career-low 7.8% swinging strike rate is a little concerning, but the southpaw has otherwise looked like himself in a Tigers’ uniform, posting a 3.30 ERA and a 3.28 xERA across his first 30.0 innings in the organization. Valdez’s 4.1% opponent barrel rate and 87th percentile ground ball rate (54.6%) are simply what he does. I think Valdez should be able to thrive in a matchup with the Reds, who have struggled to get any offensive production outside of Elly De La Cruz and Sal Stewart. To wit, Cincinnati enters play on Friday slashing .205/.299/.344 with a league-worst 77 wRC+. Meanwhile, Detroit owns the third-highest expected wOBA in MLB (.347). Thanks, Kevin McGonigle.
